Did you know that 2015 marks twenty years that Fly Fishing in Maine has been on the inter-webs?  It’s been quite an amazing evolution and ride, and we want to thank the entire community (that’s YOU) for continuing to make this a place for fly anglers all around the world, who are interested in our great state, to congregate.

20 years in this day and age is nearly an eternity — the world has changed so much since our first day serving Maine fly anglers.  Consider — when FFIM first went online, NONE of the following even existed!

  • Google
  • iPODs (that’s POD not PHONE!)
  • Facebook
  • Texting
  • Euros (as currency)
  • Harry Potter
  • DVDs

When FFIM was started as an off-shoot of a college project way back in 1995, I never would have envisioned that it would take on such a life of it’s own.  Over the years the evolution led to a path of conservation and education through grassroots community involvement and service.  Our annual Spring Conclave and Fly Fishing Film Tour events, along with numerous silent auctions and raffles, have netted over $60,000 that we have in turn given back directly to the Maine fly fishing community…through organizations like the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Casting for Recovery, Trout Unlimited, Coastal Conservation Association and Stripers Forever, just to name a few.

We look forward to the next twenty years, and appreciate you joining us for the ride!
